PT. Kebun Kelapa Indonesia Prepares Major Coconut Plantation Development in Belitung

PT. Kebun Kelapa Indonesia is gearing up for a significant expansion in the coconut plantation sector in Belitung Regency. The company plans to open more than 1,000 hectares of land in the Selat Nasik District as the initial stage of development. Plantating activities are scheduled to commence in October 2025, and once production reaches stability-estimated within approximately three years-a coconut processing facility will be established. This plant will not only process coconuts harvested from the company’s own plantations but will also absorb supply from local farmers in the surrounding areas.

This ambitious plan was announced during an official event attended by the Governor of the Bangka Islands, Hidayat Arsani, as well as the Deputy of Belitung, Syamsir. In his remarks Governor Hidayat emphasized that the investment is expected to become a new economic driver for Belitung, create substantial employment opportunities, and directly improve the welfare of local communities. He also highlighted the importance of the social forestry policy, which allows communities to utilize Social Forestry (HKM) and Community Plantation Forest (HTR) lands for coconut cultivation, ensuring that the benefits are distributed equitably.

Similar support was expressed by the Head of HKM Selat Nasik Village, Asmadi, who declared his readliness to collaborate with the company. He views this initiative as a golden opportunity for local farmers to increase their income and expand market reach. Meanwhile, PT. Kebun Kelapa Indonesia’s representative, Wardimam, stressed that coconuts possess significant economy value, as nearly every part of the plant can be utilized-from the fruit and coconut water to its fibers. He expressed confidence that Belitung has the potential to become one of the nation’s leading coconut-producing regions with strong export prospects, while also strengthening Indonesia’s position in the global market.
